Navigate360 Announces Formation of Strategic Advisory Board

Members include the country's leading education, workforce and national security experts

RICHFIELD, Ohio, March 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Navigate360, the country's leading provider of social and emotional learning, school safety solutions, and programs for students, parents, schools, and communities, has announced the formation of a new strategic advisory board. Members of the Navigate360 advisory board will help guide the company's efforts in ensuring communities are prepared to deal with traumatic incidents and advance the organization's mission to ensure all Americans are safe – physically, socially, and emotionally. The members have served in some of the highest roles across the government, business, and non-profit arenas.

The board will be led by co-chairs, John White and Gary Margolis.

Members of the advisory board include:

  • John White (co-chair of the Advisory Board) is the former Louisiana State Superintendent of Education, a role he held from 2012 until 2020. White currently serves as Board co-chairman and co-founder of Propel America. He started his career as an English teacher and over the years has served in a variety of leadership positions throughout the education space including as Executive Director of Teach for America – Chicago and New Jersey, Deputy Chancellor for the New York City Department of Education, and visiting scholar at the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia.
  • Dr. Gary J. Margolis (co-chair of the Advisory Board) is an entrepreneur and former law enforcement executive with a passion for providing products and services that support the safety of our communities. In his early career he served as a deputy sheriff, police officer, and police academy administrator before serving as Chief of Police at the University of Vermont for more than a decade. Gary went on co-found two school safety companies, Margolis Healy & Associates, LLC a premier school safety and security consulting firm and Social Sentinel, Inc. a SaaS-based technology company that helps safety and security teams monitor online threats, which is now part of the Navigate360 suite of offerings.
  • Jo Anderson is the founder and former executive director of the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC), a network of school districts working to systemically reform schools to continuously improve student learning. Anderson also served as a senior advisor to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan during the Obama Administration.
  • Gordon Graham is a 33-year veteran of law enforcement and the co-founder of Lexipol, a provider of public safety policy and training solutions to safety personnel in all 50 states. Graham is a risk management expert and a practicing attorney who has presented a commonsense risk management approach to hundreds of thousands of public safety professionals around the world.
  • Peter Groff served as the 47th president of the Colorado State Senate. During his tenure, he passed landmark and visionary legislation on education, criminal justice and healthcare. After his legislative service, he was the director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education under President Obama. He was later appointed to the White House Commission on U. S. Presidential Scholars. Groff also served as a visiting fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education and as a senior fellow of urban affairs at the Progressive Policy Institute.
  • Stephen Layfield is a retired U.S. Army Major General with more than 30 years of senior leadership, training and command experience. He has held several operational commands and senior staff positions with multiple deployments and been awarded numerous military awards, including the Bronze Star. Additionally, he served as the director of the DoD's most senior leader development and educational program. Upon retirement from the Army in 2011, he founded S.R. Layfield Associates LLC. He is a member of The Spectrum Group, consulting firm, a faculty member on the Thayer Leader Development Group, a member of Advantage Factory LLC, and co-founder of Cyber Ops Alliance. He also serves on the advisory board of "Guitars for Vets", a nonprofit dedicated to the healing of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Steve Pemberton is the chief human resources officer of Workhuman. He works with HR leaders and senior management executives worldwide to help build inspiring workplaces in which every employee feels recognized, respected and appreciated for who they are and what they do. Prior to joining Workhuman, Pemberton served in senior human resources roles at Walgreens Boots Alliance and Monster.com. In 2015, he was appointed by United States Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez to serve on the advisory committee for the Competitive Integrated Employment of People with Disabilities.
  • Charlie Rose is the former general counsel for the United States Department of Education. He was a senior official in the Obama Administration and advised the U.S. Secretary of Education on all legal, regulatory and policy matters and education reform initiatives.
  • Max Schachter is a national school safety advocate. His youngest son Alex was one of the 17 victims in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. Through his nonprofit Safe Schools for Alex, Max has provided the most current school safety best practices and resources to students, parents, school districts and law enforcement so that all children can learn in a safe environment. Max's personal mission to make schools safe has resulted in the newly formed Federal School Safety Clearinghouse and its website, SchoolSafety.gov.
  • Mark Sullivan is the former director of the United States Secret Service (USSS), where he managed 7,000 special agents, uniformed division officers, and administrative, professional and technical staff members. He led high-impact initiatives in criminal investigations and protective operations, as well as in strategic planning, threat assessment and risk management, human capital management, training, and technology deployment operations. He was responsible for the protection of the president, vice president, former presidents and their families, other government leaders and visiting heads of state.
  • Karen Tandy is the principal of KPT Consulting LLC, a government affairs consulting firm and Executive Vice President of tele-health firm, NLW Partners. During her public service, Ms. Tandy was appointed by President Bush and unanimously confirmed by the US Senate as the first female to head the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Before that, Ms. Tandy was Associate Deputy Attorney General during the Clinton and Bush Administrations with responsibility for anti-money laundering, counter-drug policy and DEA regulatory oversight. She also led the nationwide Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Forces and served for more than 15 years as a federal prosecutor.
