National Safety Council Joins OSHA National SIF Prevention Alliance

New Alliance program will help employers identify high-risk hazards and prevent serious incidents and fatalities

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Safety Council today announced its participation in the National Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention Alliance, a collaborative initiative formed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to reduce incidents and deaths in the workplace by providing employers with training and resources to help identify and eliminate high-risk hazards.

The Alliance establishes a partnership between OSHA, NSC and several other organizations working to advance serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention, including the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the University of Colorado Boulder's Construction Safety Research Alliance (CSRA).

Building on the Council's broader commitment to advance SIF prevention, the National SIF Prevention Alliance unites safety organizations and stakeholders to advance the identification and prevention of SIFs in the workplace. Participants will collaborate to develop and disseminate SIF prevention resources, effective practices, training and practical solutions for employers, workers and safety professionals.
