MassMutual Announces Election of Shelley Leibowitz to Board of Directors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) announced today it has elected Shelley Leibowitz, former World Bank and Morgan Stanley Chief Information Officer, to its Board of Directors, effective October 7, 2019.

Leibowitz was named the World Bank's first Group-wide Chief Information Officer in 2009. In that role, she was responsible for the technology services and capabilities that underlie the work of delivering quality knowledge and financing products to World Bank clients across the globe. Leibowitz also oversaw the World Bank's Library and Archives, managed the Bank's comprehensive cybersecurity program, and served as a member of the Pension Investment Committee. Previously, Leibowitz also held Chief Information Officer positions at Morgan Stanley, Greenwich Capital Markets, Barclays Capital, and Investment Risk Management.
In 2016, Leibowitz launched SL Advisory, providing tailored advice and insights to senior executives and boards of directors in the areas of technology strategy, digital transformation, data intelligence, agile program delivery, IT portfolio and risk management, information security, performance metrics, and governance.
In addition to her role as a new MassMutual Director, Leibowitz serves on the Board of E*Trade Financial Corporation and is a former Board member of Alliance Bernstein Holding LP, Endgame, and GAIN Capital.
Leibowitz is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where her areas of focus are technology policy, internet governance, and cybersecurity, and she also serves on the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) Council. She is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), where she is a frequent speaker and has achieved the NACD CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight for Board Directors.
Leibowitz was honored by the Women’s Bond Club of New York with its annual Merit Award for career achievement and extraordinary leadership in the financial industry. She is a graduate of Williams College with a degree in mathematics.
