Manta launched its manga category in April alongside webcomics and webnovels, debuting with hit titles from major Japanese publisher Kodansha. The new distribution deals with KADOKAWA, Square Enix and Manga UP!, Square Enix's global manga platform, expand Manta’s roster of Japanese publishing partners, rounding out a single-platform lineup across all three formats.
The lineup includes a number of titles with established fan bases. More than 300 titles have been added, among them The Apothecary Diaries, a strong performer in North America; Proud to be the Villainess: I'm Doomed After Stealing my Half-Sister's Fiance and Having Her Banished, a twist on the villainess fantasy genre; Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the newer series from Hiromu Arakawa; and TOKYO RAVENS, a steady-selling occult fantasy.
To celebrate the expanded lineup, Manta is launching a global promotion featuring the first three chapters of select new titles for free, alongside a 30% discount on manga titles, making it easier for new readers to discover manga.
Yupil Won, CEO of RIDI & Manta CIC, said, “We’re seeing readers who read webcomics and webnovels on Manta naturally expand into manga,” adding, “Building on RIDI’s years of experience serving Japanese comics in Korea, we’ll connect with new global audiences that the existing manga market has yet to reach.”
Manta is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, and on the web.
