According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drunk driving killed more than 13,000 people nationwide in 2023—marking the second consecutive year that alcohol-related fatalities have remained above this tragic threshold. These preventable deaths represent a 22% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, underscoring a deeply concerning trend in impaired driving behavior.
MADD is working urgently to stop this crisis by:
