Lubrizol Participates In World Adhesives Congress 2016
CLEVELAND, September 16, 2016 - The Lubrizol Corporation's Engineered Polymers business announces that it will participate at World Adhesives Congress (WAC) 2016 taking place in Tokyo, Japan, on October 28, 2016. Lubrizol will present a paper on its latest innovations in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for high performing hot melt adhesives (HMAs) and reactive hot melt (RHM OR HMPUR).
At WAC 2016, Lubrizol will focus on recent developments with the high-adhesion, soft PearlbondTM 300 TPU series for bonding of any substrates in the textile market, even difficult ones. Despite its low hardness ranging from 52 to 64 Shore A, the Pearlbond 300 TPU series is plasticizer-free so the risk of adhesive migration during processing is diminished, reducing defects from staining or weak seams. Improved processability and extrusion at low temperatures are two other key features.
The outstanding elasticity of the new Pearlbond 300 TPU series gives a new freedom of movement, as well as comfort and soft touch feel. These values can also be found in Pearlbond 700, the first of a new generation of fast and high-heat resistant TPUs (new) that help hot melt adhesive manufacturers to make stronger products with low temperature flexibility and good adhesion in textile lamination, automotive, metals, woodworking, filters, conveyor belts, and Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) applications.
Javier Tortosa, Lubrizol Engineered Polymers' global business manager for adhesives, notes, "TPU was invented by Lubrizol Advanced Materials in 1959 and since its invention, Lubrizol has continued to innovate and apply its in-depth-TPU experience and knowledge to help customers succeed by driving innovative solutions for some of the industry's toughest applications challenges. The Pearlbond 700 series will help adhesive manufacturers save money by cutting down setting time via a high-performing bonding solution that requires less energy to process and provides a higher life cycle expectancy since it can be applied at low-temperature."
This new fast and high-heat TPU delivers the benefits of better impact resistance and adhesion, as well as absorption of vibrations. Gonzalo Löwenberg, Lubrizol Engineered
Polymers' Adhesives R&D manager for applications & technical service, adds that "Pearlbond 700 is a breakthrough and evolution in crystalline TPU chemistry that has broken the barriers of the traditional TPU adhesive market. There is no other TPU for adhesives like it."
