Jam-band constellation The Contribution a hit with charities on monthly basis
Latest single out June 16, with profits this month to Delaware Riverkeeper
BRISTOL, Pa., June 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As pages to the 2017 calendar are turned each month, The Contribution – an ensemble of members of the national roots music/jam scene – makes … well, another contribution.
Made up of musicians from Railroad Earth, the String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, New Monsoon and others, The Contribution releases a single monthly through cdbaby.com, with all profits going to a different charity each month. For Tim Carbone of the renowned, New Jersey-based Railroad Earth, it’s a win-win situation.
“We feel blessed to be able to make this music and have it help people in need,” says Carbone, who plays violin and guitar and sings for The Contribution. “And we would like to empower those who share our passion and provide a resource for them to take action with us.”
This month’s song is “Dream Out In The Rain” [art available] and the receiving charity is the Delaware Riverkeeper Network. That hits close to home for Carbone, who lives along the river in Pennsylvania.
Since February, The Contribution, formed in 2010 and called a “jamband supergroup” by Relix magazine, has been releasing one single a month and has partnered with nonprofits from across the nation.
The Contribution is:
- The brainchild of Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth (violin, guitar, vocals), together with Phil Ferlino (keyboards, vocals) and Jeff Miller (guitar, vocals) of New Monsoon.
- Keith Moseley, bass (String Cheese Incident).
- Sheryl Renee, vocals (The Black Swan Singers).
- The drum chair has been occupied by Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Matt Butler (Everyone Orchestra), and currently Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic).
- The full album will be released on vinyl this fall on LoHi Records and reveals the group's love of 1960s pop and soul.
