This major upgrade represents a significant advancement in searching and masking personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources, both on-premise and in the cloud.

DarkShield V5 builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, DarkShield V4, which debuted in late 2020. One of the critical features of DarkShield V5 is its expanded API functionality. Previously inaccessible API functionality is now seamlessly integrated into the IRI Workbench GUI. It enables the users to leverage V4 and new V5 API engines for all search and masking operations, enhancing efficiency and ease of use.

Additionally, DarkShield now supports source and target files stored in various cloud environments, including Azure Blob, GCP, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online, as well as AWS S3 buckets.

The IRI Workbench GUI features modernized data classification infrastructure in DarkShield V5, empowering users with data class groups, sensitivity labels, search matches, and masking rules. Fuzzy matching capabilities utilize non-exact-match algorithms, such as Levenstein distance, to broaden the reach of lookup-based value searches, improving accuracy and coverage.

DarkShield V5 introduces CLI execution and JSON context export capabilities. Users can execute Workbench GUI configurations via the command-line interface (CLI) and export DarkShield job parameters to JSON contexts for seamless integration with external applications. The product also offers data masking tools for its customers.

Visual analytics, including post-execution HTML5 graphs and data masking tools for heat-mapped sensitive data discovery charts, provide insights into the types and amounts of PII found in each data source, facilitating informed decision-making.

The representative at the firm added, “DarkShield V5 features built-in machine learning capabilities for training OpenNLP, PyTorch, and TensorFlow models, enhancing the detection of PII and sensitive data within their grammatical contexts.”

The release also introduces new Workbench views, including previews of masking results, DarkShield API controls, aggregated audit log data, and Gantt charts of recent job activity.
