Horizon Investments Names Greg Valliere Chief Strategist
Leading political and economic strategist to focus on providing Horizon clients with actionable insight at the intersection of politics and markets
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Horizon Investments (“Horizon”), a global investment manager and leading ETF strategist, announced today that Greg Valliere has joined the firm as Chief Strategist.
Valliere brings more than 30 years of experience in analyzing and writing about events in Washington, D.C. for institutional investors, most recently as Chief Political Strategist for the Potomac Research Group. His work focuses on the vital intersection of politics and economics, including the role of Congress and the White House in fashioning fiscal policy, and interest rate policy as determined by the U.S. Federal Reserve. At Horizon, he will continue to advise the firm and its clients on a range of policy, economic, and investing matters.
“We recognize that investing successfully in today’s world requires an understanding of both the political economy and market fundamentals,” said Robbie Cannon, president and chief executive officer at Horizon. “Greg is widely known for his insightful analysis and has built an outstanding reputation with the investor community. We’re delighted to be able to make his expertise available to our clients.”
Horizon, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, employs an innovative, multi-disciplinary approach to asset management combining economic, fundamental, and quantitative research. In a period that has seen retrenchment and consolidation among its competitors, Horizon continues to invest aggressively in its growth.
“Rigorous, multi-disciplinary research has always been at the core of the Horizon investment process,” Cannon said. “As an organization, we’re committed to continuing to add the resources required to meet the demands of today’s complex investing environment and the needs of our clients. Greg’s work will introduce a dynamic new dimension to our analysis.”
Over the course of his career, Valliere has held a number of senior positions with Washington-based policy firms. He was director of research at the Charles Schwab Research Group, and served as chief policy strategist for the Soleil Securities Corporation. Earlier in his career, he co-founded The Washington Forum, and served as chief political analyst and, ultimately, research director for the group.
“I have long admired the rigor of the work Horizon does for its clients,” said Valliere. “I’m delighted to join such a strong, innovative team of investment professionals and look forward to integrating my work into the firm’s research process.”
Valliere is a graduate of The George Washington University. He speaks frequently at leading financial services industry events and conferences, and has been broadly quoted by the media. He holds a Series 7 license.
