HomeServe Commits $250,000 in Community Assistance

HomeServe CaresSM provides financial assistance to homeowners struggling to afford home repairs

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home repair solutions, today announced a commitment to provide $250,000 annually in financial support and repair services to homeowners who lack the resources when faced with a repair emergency. To date, HomeServe has already helped homeowners with over $80,000 in repair expenses through the HomeServe Cares fund. This charitable program is separate from the affordable home emergency repair service plans.

The HomeServe Cares program also supports the company’s goal of educating homeowners about responsibilities for the repair of major household systems. For example, one of the most common misconceptions regarding water and sewer systems is that the local utility provider or municipality is responsible if there is a leak or blockage on private property. With rare exception, that is not the case, and the majority of basic homeowners’ insurance policies do not cover repairs to the water or sewer service lines on residential property. In most cases, the homeowner is fully responsible for these repairs, which can be a substantial burden.

The HomeServe Cares fund was created with the purpose of helping people who do not have the available funds to cover the often high costs associated with emergency home repairs. With 25 percent of homeowners surveyed reporting they have no savings available for emergency home repairs1, these unexpected home repairs are an expense many cannot afford.

This assistance program provides funding and also arranges repairs for homeowners struggling to afford and manage a home repair emergency. HomeServe works with its network of local, licensed and insured contractors to facilitate the repairs, at no cost to the homeowner, through HomeServe Cares.
