GameSalad Launches Newly Enhanced Education Program
Hires Former Educator as Principal Learning Architect
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GameSalad, a leading game development platform announced it will offer a newly enhanced GameSalad for Education program. The new program offers educators all the tools and products necessary to easily teach game development, introduce programming fundamentals, and foster creativity in the classroom.
The enhanced GameSalad for Education program includes software, curriculum, textbooks, certifications and asset packs. The GameSalad for Education program also includes a community for teachers called EduConnect, where educators can share resources, ask questions and collaborate on projects using GameSalad.
To enhance the program's curriculum, GameSalad hired Danielle Burnett as the principal learning architect. Burnett, a former Arkansas school teacher, helped pilot GameSalad in her district. The pilot program was so successful, the Arkansas state Department of Career Education now recommends GameSalad to all high schools in Arkansas. GameSalad can also be found in school districts across nearly 30 states, and 11 countries worldwide.
“I was very impressed with the creativity and problem solving skills that my students utilized while using GameSalad in my mobile app development classes. As a teacher I loved seeing the looks of excitement and intrigue on the faces of my students,” said Burnett. “I am excited to be working with a company that allows me to share my passion for education and making computer science fun and accessible.”
GameSalad’s emphasis on education allows the company to team up with educators and academic institutions across the world to teach students the skills they need to succeed. GameSalad has become essential in several school districts as part of their STEM initiative. The enhanced curriculum encourages students to get involved in coding, game design, and learning the technical and problem solving skills they need for future careers in anything from mathematics to computer engineering.
“GameSalad emphasizes experimentation and rapid iteration and provides students with a platform to utilize and learn the fundamental concepts of software development and programming,” said Stephen Nichols, CEO of GameSalad. “With our enhanced education program and the addition of Danielle, we are confident that we are providing curriculum that will foster creativity and enrich the lives of students around the world.”
Students and educators may order single seat education licenses at a savings of fifty percent off the retail price. School districts and institutions can save 65 to 95 percent off the cost of GameSalad for Education. To learn more or to get a quote, visit http://edu.gamesalad.com/.
