As AUSA’s exclusive financial services affiliate, First Command is offering a branded Platinum Visa and other products and services through its First Command Bank subsidiary. The new offerings were unveiled today during the 2015 AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
“Through our new partnership with the Association of the United States Army, we are reaffirming our 57-year commitment to serve the needs of America’s career military families,” said Scott Spiker, CEO of First Command Financial Services. “This relationship is particularly important in light of the financial stresses facing so many of our men and women in uniform in this uncertain environment of defense downsizing and military budget cuts. We look forward to offering AUSA members a variety of products and services that support sound financial management behaviors and the effective pursuit of long-term financial security.”
In addition to the AUSA-branded credit card, First Command Bank is offering AUSA members:
- Checking Accounts
- Money Market Savings Accounts
- Certificates of Deposit
“The Association of the U.S. Army is pleased to enter into this affinity partnership,” said retired Army Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, AUSA’s President and CEO. “We believe it offers a tangible benefit to our members and furthers our vision as a dedicated team committed to building the best professional and representative association for the world’s best Army.”
AUSA is the latest partner recruited by First Command through Squared Away®, the company’s national initiative designed to extend awareness of and take action to address the critical life issues facing active-duty military, post-911 veterans and military spouses. First Command’s other Squared Away-related partners include the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes initiative; the non-profit Project Sanctuary (First Command serves as that group’s exclusive financial planning partner); and the First Command Educational Foundation.
“Money issues are a common concern confronting many career military families,” Spiker said. “They are more likely to feel insecure and financially stretched month to month than their civilian counterparts. With our new partnership with AUSA, we seek to continue to help military members and their families get their professional, personal and financial needs squared away so they have the opportunity for the future they desire.”
