Lessons from Climate Correction™ 2025

Lack of funding and political division slow down progress in the climate fight, yet each person, in their own context, has the power to take action

ORLANDO, Fla., March 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The seventh edition of Climate Correction, organized by VoLo Foundation on March 12-13, left a clear warning: without a joint effort between public and private sectors, and without bipartisan support, climate policies are at risk of rollback.

Over two days, scientists, activists, business and community leaders debated strategies for a sustainable future and agreed that funding and political cooperation are essential to addressing the climate crisis.

With the theme "Leaders in Action," the conference called for the active participation of individuals and organizations in building resilience.

The challenge of climate finance

One of the most discussed issues was the lack of public funds to mitigate climate change. Although climate philanthropy has grown in recent years, it still represents a tiny fraction of the capital needed.

Experts said the private sector must take a more active role and foster public-private partnerships to accelerate effective solutions. Without sufficient resources, the progress made will remain fragile and difficult to sustain.

Bipartisanship or Failure: The Political Dilemma of Climate Action

George Behrakis, President of Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends, highlighted the importance of a bipartisan approach to the climate fight: "Climate change is too important to be a partisan issue. We need a broad coalition to drive lasting impact." He stressed that without bipartisan support, there can be no real and lasting progress.

"The United States operates on a two-party system, and political power shifts frequently. For climate action to be effective and long-lasting, it must have bipartisan support. Otherwise, policies risk being reversed with each election cycle," he warned.

On that note, John Morales, meteorologist and founder of ClimaData, warned about the risks of cuts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). "I can't do my job without NOAA and the weather service," he said, urging the public to support and defend these institutions. He also criticized the media's tendency to give a platform to climate change detractors, "trying to contradict the science, which is irrefutable."

We all have the power to correct climate change

Beyond government decisions, Climate Correction 2025 called for individual and collective action. Thais Lopez Vogel, co-founder of VoLo Foundation, emphasized that climate change is not just a government problem.

"Every person, every community, and every company has a key role to play in this fight." From changes in consumption habits to environmental education, every action counts.

On this point, the conference demonstrated that the climate fight can be expressed through film, art, and fashion. There were screenings of climate documentaries and a sustainable fashion show.

Michael P. Nash, an award-winning filmmaker for his documentary Climate Refugees, which addresses the crisis of people displaced by natural disasters, is working on a sequel to raise awareness of the human consequences of climate change and the need for urgent action.

Bruno Olmedo Quiroga, vice president of strategy at Good Energy, highlighted Hollywood's influence on public perception of climate change. He mentioned examples such as the film Parasite and the Abbott Elementary series, which integrate climate narratives that resonate with audiences and foster cultural change.

Prior to the conference, an interactive mural was unveiled at Orange County Public Schools' Academic Center of Excellence (ACE) in Parramore. Designed by TIME™ Pieces artist Allison Dayka, this event marked a milestone in the Keep Orlando Beautiful initiative, powered by VoLo Foundation.

The challenge continues

Since its inception, Climate Correction has grown in scope and impact. "Every year, more people join the climate movement. Now that the stakes are higher than ever, we can't slow down. It's time to double down," concluded Lopez Vogel.
