FR Conversions, Inc. Announces Move to Westminster, MD
Major producer of van conversions for wheelchair-accessible transportation moves to new facility to meet expected growth in business; $20M investment will create 50 new jobs this year, up to 400 new jobs over the over next 2-3 years
WOODLAWN, Md., Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FR Conversions, Inc. announced today that it will move its manufacturing operations from Woodlawn, MD, in Baltimore County, to an existing 152,000 square-foot facility in Westminster, MD to meet growth in demand for its wheelchair accessible van conversions. The move to 1231 Tech Court in Westminster is expected to be completed by the end of August 2015, according to FR Conversion's president Eli Rosenbloom. The relocation will create 50 new jobs in the first 90-120 days of operations in addition to its current workforce of approximately 100 who will transfer to the new facility. It is expected that as many as 400 more employees will be needed over the next two to three years.

"Increased nationwide demand for vans that can accommodate wheelchairs required us to significantly expand our manufacturing operations," Rosenbloom said. "We are investing $20 million to purchase the building, invest in additional equipment and move the existing operation from Baltimore County. For that investment, we will get a facility that is six times larger than in our current location."
Rosenbloom expressed appreciation for the support and assistance that made the move possible. "In particular, we are thankful to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Maryland Secretary of Labor Kelly Schulz. A special thank you goes out to the Carroll County Department of Economic Development for their continued assistance. This relocation will allow us to grow our business, create jobs, contribute to the local and state economy and, most of all, provide quality mobility to our many customers," he said.
FR Conversions, Inc., a privately held company, was founded five years ago by Rosenbloom, and has grown to be one of Fiat-Chrysler's largest mobility up-fitter.
