Emisense Announces Commercialization of Next Generation Particulate Matter Sensor
"This agreement marks the next chapter for ePM technology," states
"It's clear that even as the world continues to de-carbonize, customers are still demanding innovation and advancement in clean and efficient combustion," continues
The ePM technology is ideal for end-of-tailpipe applications, enabling easier compliance with on board diagnostic (OBD) requirements that are tightening in the coming years. Key advantages include faster response times, superior sensitivity, and a continuous signal which avoids the complex models required to predict periodic sensor response with existing resistive PM sensors.
"As an industry, we've made good progress delivering huge reductions in the types of pollutants targeted by the Clean Air Act," states
Advantages of the new Electrostatic ePM sensors (also known under the trade name of PMTrac®) are expected to include lower compliance costs from easier OBD system integration; sensor self-diagnostics with tamper detection capability; and lower warranty costs. Sample availability is starting in 2025, with production planned to start in 2028.
"Now that we have initial adoption in automotive, and a strong Tier-1 supplier partner," continues
