Eimskip files a civil action against the Icelandic Competition Authority

Eimskip´s Board of Directors decided today to file a civil action against the Icelandic Competition Authority claiming that the investigation, which has been ongoing for nearly a decade, should be ruled illegal and ceased. Eimskip has priorly made a claim based on similar subject matter and on the Icelandic criminal procedures act as legal basis, but Icelandic courts ruled that a litigation could not be made against the Icelandic Competition Authority on that basis. As the courts did not rule on the substantive arguments made by the Company it was decided to file a civil action in order to get the Icelandic courts to rule on the arguments. The Icelandic Competition Authority will be presented with a summons in the next few days.
