D'Angelo Named Interim President of the New Jersey Innovation Institute

NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Jennifer D'Angelo has been named interim president of the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), a subsidiary of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), effective September 21, 2026. D'Angelo brings to the role more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across healthcare, technology, operations, cybersecurity, government partnerships and organizational transformation, the last seven of which have been at NJII.

During her time at NJII, D'Angelo has played a significant role in the growth and expansion of the organization, most recently serving as chief operating officer and executive vice president of the organization's Healthcare Division. Her impact has extended across NJII's operations and its verticals in Healthcare, Defense and Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and VentureStudio and Entrepreneurship.

D'Angelo has been instrumental in the growth of NJII's Healthcare Division and its work advancing healthcare interoperability and data exchange throughout New Jersey, including expanding the New Jersey Health Information Network (NJHIN). She has led major state and federally funded initiatives focused on interoperability, population health, value-based care, quality improvement and healthcare transformation. Her work has brought together healthcare providers, state and federal agencies, technology companies and community organizations to improve the secure exchange and use of health and social care information.

Throughout her tenure, D'Angelo has also championed cybersecurity, privacy, compliance and enterprise risk management as essential components of NJII's growth. Most recently, she helped lead NJII's achievement of HITRUST certification for its Healthcare Division, strengthening the organization's security and compliance foundation and its broader healthcare initiatives, as well as CMMC Level 2 certification, reinforcing NJII's cybersecurity capabilities and readiness to support its Defense and DoD-related work. 

As Interim President, D'Angelo will focus on enhancing NJII's strengths while expanding its role as a bridge between NJIT's research and academic capabilities and the needs of industry, government and the innovation economy. A key priority will be working closely with NJIT Interim President John A. Pelesko and university leadership to deepen collaboration in areas that include artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. D'Angelo will also focus on creating new opportunities to bring NJIT faculty, research, technology and talent together with NJII's extensive network of government, healthcare, industry and entrepreneurial partners.

Prior to joining NJII, D'Angelo held senior executive leadership positions across healthcare and technology, including serving as senior vice president and chief information officer at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, as well as leadership roles with Christian Health and Jersey Health Connect.
