Christian Sci-Fi Mystery Novel About Space Aliens: UFO Book Published
American author Betty Johansen has released her latest mystery novel “Lilli’s Song”. The new book marks Johansen’s first foray into science fiction.

-- The author has declared that the “compelling” idea for this latest publication was what inspired her to start writing novels in earnest. Marrying the post-modern fascination with alien visitors from other planets with traditional Christian values and parables, Lilli’s Song is a welcome addition to the religious fiction genre.

The plot of Johansen’s new novel revolves around the disappearance of 14-year-old Lilli Park. Intelligent, from a loving home, and popular with her friends, there is no conceivable reason for Lilli to have run away. The traditional mystery trope would dictate that only someone with nefarious intentions could have spirited her away. However, in Johansen’s novel, this is subverted by adding a twist usually reserved for science fiction.
Lilli lives in the fictional town of Skyport in the Texas panhandle, which has earned a reputation for UFO sightings and extra-terrestrial encounters since its founding over one hundred years ago. Therefore, the townsfolk overwhelmingly believe in a very different theory: Lilli must have been abducted.
Johansen’s cynical police detective Caleb Carson investigates, convinced that the culprit must be an earthbound human suspect. The novel follows his encounters with townspeople spouting alien anecdotes and an intriguing young Christian woman named Treena Wood, who has a very different explanation for the town’s other-worldly visitors.
Speaking about her decision to explore science fiction with Lilli’s Song, Johansen said: “My stories fit most closely into the category of cozy mysteries, which means they are free of filthy language, explicit scenes, and gratuitous gore. In other words, I write the kind of stories I like to read, regardless of the genre.”
