Charles Lafitte Foundation's Spring Essay Contest Discovers The Power of Friendship

The Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF) is pleased to announce the Kid's Corner Spring Reading Contest.

Students in grades 3-12 attending a public or private school in the U.S. are invited to participate. To enter, students must read a book listed under their corresponding grade level, and tell CLF how an unexpected friendship changed the main character's life in some way; positive, negative, or a mixture of both.

"My life is not characterized by my grades, success, or failures. My life is defined by the people I spend it with. This essay contest is a chance to reflect on the power friendship has to shape your life." said Kyra Citron, director of Kids Corner.

Once all entries have been submitted, CLF will chose one essay from each age division. Winners of the essay contest will receive $1,000 for their school library and a Kindle Fire.

CLF's Kid's Corner strives to encourage kids not only have a voice, but a role in helping better their community. Kid's Corner is run by kids for kids, placing the power of change directly in their capable hands. Every child is invited to join with CLF and become a grant-maker by telling the organization which non-profit organizations are important to them and how CLF can help.
