CIRI Elects New Vice Chair and Directors

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) announced the election of Brian Ector as the Vice Chair of the CIRI Board of Directors at the 2015 Annual General Meeting today. Brian is Senior Vice President, Capital Markets and Public Affairs at Baytex Energy Corp. He will succeed Meghan Brown as Chair, CIRI Board of Directors in 2016.

Brian Ector was appointed Senior Vice President, Capital Markets and Public Affairs of Baytex Energy Corp. in May 2014. He joined Baytex in November 2009, holding the roles of Director of Investor Relations from November 2009 to June 2011, and Vice President, Investor Relations from June 2011 to May 2014. Prior to joining Baytex, Brian spent 15 years as a sell-side research analyst covering both energy trusts and exploration and production companies. He spent the last seven years as an analyst with Scotia Capital where he was consistently ranked as one of the top rated analysts in Canada. Mr. Ector holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in finance from the University of Calgary and received his CFA designation in 1996. He is a national board member of CIRI as well as a member of NIRI, the CFA Institute and the Calgary CFA Society.

CIRI members also elected Alice Dunning, Senior Director, Investor Relations, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce; Lisa May, Director, Investor Relations, Bear Creek Mining Corporation; and Jess Nieukerk, Director, Finance & Communications, AltaGas Ltd.

Alice Dunning is Senior Director, Investor Relations at CIBC. Previously, Alice served as Director of Corporate Communications at a publicly traded health care services provider, and she was a Senior Account Executive at The Equicom Group. Prior to that, Alice was a sell-side equity analyst at tier one investment banks including CIBC World Markets, Merrill Lynch Canada, and TD securities. Her areas of coverage included oil and gas, utilities, and diversified business income trusts. She also spent four years in precious metals sales and trading. Alice is a CFA charterholder and obtained her MBA from Queen’s and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia.

Lisa May has been the Director of Investor Relations at Bear Creek Mining Corporation since January 2012. In early 2015 Bear Creek Mining was nominated by IR Magazine for the best IR by a TSX Venture Exchange-listed company. Lisa is actively involved in the Canadian Investor Relations Institute and was recently elected Chair of the BC Executive. Previous roles include Director, Investor Relations for Plutonic Power, Principal of BMK Partners, Manager of Corporate Communications for Indicator Minerals and Marketing Coordinator for Rimfire Minerals.

Jess Nieukerk is the Director, Finance & Communications at AltaGas Ltd. He has 15 years of experience in energy. He started his career with TransAlta in Mexico, helping them establish their international operations in the country. During his time with TransAlta, Jess held roles of increasing responsibility in Business Transformation, Project Management, Commercial, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations. Jess moved into Investor Relations in 2007 at TransAlta before joining AltaGas to head up Investor Relations and Communications. Jess holds a Bachelor of International Management degree from the University of Lethbridge and his MBA from IPADE Mexico. He has been a member of CIRI since 2007 and currently serves as Treasurer of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute, Alberta Chapter.

Kelly Freeman, Director, Strategy and Business Development, PotashCorp and Eleanor Fritz, Director, Compliance and Disclosure, Toronto Stock Exchange are retiring from the board. Both have dedicated many years to volunteering for the organization and have made a tremendous contribution.
