BranchLab Study Finds Novel Evidence of Supernatural Existence Through Healthcare Data
Ten years of longitudinal analysis reveals measurable paranormal activity and a potentially unprecedented crisis in witchcraft.
The study, Evidence of the Supernatural: A Longitudinal Analysis of Healthcare Data for Signs of the Unexplained, examined data from 2016 through 2025 for indicators associated with five supernatural categories: Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, and familiars (i.e., cats). Given
The analysis found elevated October activity in 46 of 50 category-year observations, with 14 exceeding the monthly baseline by more than 20%. Ghost-associated activity increased consistently in October, while vampire-associated activity was elevated in nine of ten years. Werewolf-associated activity exhibited less year-over-year variability, and familiars (i.e., cats) showed recurring October increases, with high year-over-year variability.
The research also identified a notable anomaly. Witch-associated activity was 68% below its non-October monthly baseline in 2021 and 20% below in 2023. Subsequent investigation identified contemporaneous shortages of mustard seed, glass containers, and paraffin wax, materials associated with traditional witchcraft practices. The temporal alignment raises the possibility of a broader disruption to witchcraft operations, although a causal relationship has not been established.
"This novel approach demonstrates how healthcare data can reveal patterns in the world that extend far beyond healthcare itself," said
Full methodology, longitudinal findings, and potential explanations for observed anomalies among the witching community can be found on the BranchLab website.

Research note: This is a satirical exploration of fictional supernatural phenomena using real-world, de-identified healthcare data and documented economic events. The selected healthcare indicators represent legitimate medical circumstances and do not establish the existence of supernatural entities. The proposed causal relationships are fictional.
