OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.A; BRK.B) –
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is pleased to announce that a Berkshire factory worker from West Virginia was the winner of Berkshire’s 2017 Bracket Contest. The contest winner will be receiving the winning prize of $100,000 as a result of correctly picking the winners of the first 29 games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament that were completed last Thursday and Friday. Our Bracket Contest winner was eliminated in game 30 (South Carolina vs Marquette).
Of the 32 games played on Thursday and Friday, the winner of the contest along with at least four other entrants correctly picked the winners of 31 of the 32 games played last Thursday and Friday. Of the four others who correctly picked 31 of 32 winners, two were eliminated in game 27 (Wichita State vs Dayton) and two were eliminated in game 29 (Michigan State vs Miami). If an entrant had correctly picked the winners of all 32 games, the winning prize would have increased to $1 million. Additionally, had an entrant correctly picked the winners of the first 32 games as well as the 16 games completed on Saturday and Sunday, the winning prize would have further increased to $1 million per year for life.
Overall, there were 96,108 entrants in the 2017 Berkshire Bracket Contest. Berkshire intends to hold another Bracket Contest in 2018.
