Barbara Sandelands Appointed Senior Vice President, Commercial Underwriting Services

CHICAGO, June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CNA announced the appointment of Barbara Sandelands as Senior Vice President, Commercial Underwriting Services, effective June 27, 2016. In this newly created role, she is responsible for driving the overall strategic direction and general management of underwriting services. Sandelands reports to Julie Stephenson, Commercial Insurance Chief Underwriting Officer.

"Barb's proven leadership and broad experience in underwriting, as well as the development and implementation of commercial insurance products, underwriting guidelines, training curriculum and quality assurance protocols, make her well suited to lead CNA's newly formed Underwriting Services team," Stephenson said.

Sandelands joined CNA from Chubb, where she held multiple leadership positions over her 32-year tenure. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Workers' Compensation Manager.

Sandelands earned a bachelor's degree in business from the College of St. Elizabeth. She is a member of the National Council on Compensation Insurance's Underwriting Committee, the California Workers' Compensation Rating Bureau's Nominating Committee and a Board member of the Workers' Compensation Research Institute.
