New facility supports growing demand for food waste recycling and enhances Maryland's circular economy infrastructure.

ANNAPOLIS, Md., July 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- BTS Bioenergy, a leader in organic waste transformation and renewable energy infrastructure, announces the opening of the Maryland Organics Recovery Center (MORC), a new satellite facility to its flagship anaerobic digestion (AD) facility, Maryland Bioenergy Center (MBC). This strategic expansion is designed to meet the growing demand from food distribution centers for a cost-effective and logistically streamlined way to manage large volumes of inedible, expired, or recalled food waste.

The facility offers a bespoke, zero-waste-focused service that enables food manufacturers, distributors, and logistics providers to divert waste at scale while reducing landfill reliance and transportation costs. It is designed for maximum resource recovery, efficiently separating and recycling a wide range of materials, including pallets, cardboard, plastics, and glass.

By expanding its footprint and establishing a dedicated facility to handle upstream sorting and consolidation, BTS Bioenergy has bridged the operational gap between the distribution sector and traditional waste management.
