BLADE Awarded Contract to Develop Biological Containment Isolation System (BCIS)

SOLON, Ohio, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BLADE, a leading provider of mission-critical defense solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to develop the Biological Containment Isolation System (BCIS), an integrated solution designed to convert existing government-furnished expeditionary shelters into biological containment environments.

The developmental program leverages existing government-owned shelter infrastructure and integrates BLADE technologies and expertise to transition the shelters from positive-pressure collective protection environments to negative-pressure biological containment systems. The resulting capability supports the isolation and treatment of infected personnel while helping protect medical professionals and others operating within the care environment.

BCIS is designed to maximize the utility of assets already owned by the U.S. government. The approach combines existing technologies with customized engineering, integrated systems and BLADE's expertise in biorisk management, biosafety, biosecurity and CBRN protection to create an effective, reliable and cost-effective solution.

"BCIS demonstrates what's possible when we combine deep biorisk management (BRM), biosafety, biosecurity and CBRN expertise with an innovative, integrated systems approach," said Tim Stickler, Sr. Director of CBRN Integrated Protection, Bio & Chemical Security at BLADE. "By transforming existing government-owned shelters into biological containment environments, we can deliver a highly effective, reliable and cost-effective capability while maximizing the value of assets already in place. This approach gives our customers a practical, scalable solution for protecting medical personnel and caring for those affected by serious biological threats."

The BCIS award further demonstrates the breadth of BLADE's capabilities across the biosafety, biosecurity and CBRN mission. Beyond filtration and collective protection, BLADE develops and integrates solutions spanning detection, identification, protection, decontamination, biological containment and other mission-critical systems designed to help customers operate safely in complex environments.
