Australia Stands for Peace

Australia erupts into demonstrations and violence about an overseas war, on our Opera House steps, at the Christmas Carols in Melbourne, at universities across the country, opposing the ethos of a democratic multi cultural  nation. 

Australia is one of the most successful countries in embracing all immigrants. It is now at last, embracing our First Nations people too, righting the wrongs of the past.

It is a country to value. Books like Ships in the Field by Susanne Gervay illustrated by Anna Pignataro relate their families stories of fleeing war to find a safe home in Australia and rebuild their lives.

When fake news populates social media and news, it this the time to model to the world on how the Australian democratic multi-cuturalism can work.

It is not the time for a terrorist attack, knifing among others, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel in the Assyrian Orthodox Church Sydney. It is not the time for the dramatic rise of anti-semitism in Australia. Not to time for extreme right wing Nazis or extreme left wing radicals.

Ships in the Fields should be included for young people, to our commitment to peace, opportunity and a cohesive society.
