Arnold & Itkin Files Lawsuit Against Chevron Following Refinery Explosion
Arnold & Itkin LLP filed a lawsuit against Chevron on behalf of five workers who were seriously injured in a catastrophic explosion at Chevron's
According to the complaint, Chevron authorized hot work in an area where flammable gases were present, directly injecting those gases into a space where workers were ordered to operate. The ignition of those gases led to a devastating fire and explosion, leaving the plaintiffs with severe burns, permanent physical and psychological injuries, and long-term impairments that have prevented them from returning to work.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, physical impairment, emotional trauma, and other damages. The lawsuit also seeks exemplary damages, citing Chevron's conscious disregard for worker safety despite the extreme risk involved.
The complaint outlines a range of Chevron's alleged safety failures, including improper gas monitoring, failure to purge flammable materials, lack of employee training, and failure to provide adequate warnings to personnel. Plaintiffs argue that Chevron had actual knowledge of the hazards but allowed the work to proceed anyway.
A jury trial has been requested. The plaintiffs are represented by Arnold & Itkin LLP.
