This panel will discuss how companies that transform their traditional business models into platforms (or "network models") may have a competitive advantage based on new insights into pricing, network effects, supply chains, and strategy. The session will review how "dotcom" companies like Airbnb, Amazon, and Uber leveraged the platform model to attract millions of customers worldwide, in a relatively short time, and how this model can also apply to traditional product companies like Sony, retail brands like Nike, and spice companies like McCormick. The panel will discuss how new platform business models can help virtually any company extend existing transactions to new, associated products and services.
