Abaca Launches Premium Fruit Purées for Next-Level Cocktails

“We spent years testing our products to ensure that we got the right balance of freshness and usability,” Abaca’s founder Francesco Fontana explains. “We knew that cocktail-makers wanted real, premium flavours, and so that is precisely what we created.”

Carlo Saturnino founded Abaca at the start of 2010 in Bologna, Italy, hoping to redefine the fruit purée sector for cocktails. He wanted to create a range of products with distinctive and functional packaging that would keep their fruit content fresh for bars, restaurants, and enthusiasts looking to make drinks at home. 

In the intervening years, Carlo continued research and development at his firm to improve the quality of his products further. Eventually, he reached the standards expected by top-line clients and used that success as a base to expand to over 100 flavors, now available online. 

Abaca made significant changes to its processes in 2020 by automating production and packaging. Moving to this approach enabled the outfit to increase capacity and serve more customers, expanding into markets in Spain, Greece and the UK. 

“We began by focusing on what our customers wanted from their fruit purées and worked backward from there,” Carlo says. “The process was a long one, but eventually everything came together.”

This latest line of exclusive flavors comes on the back of Abaca’s launch of “Spritz Colors.” This line added ten new products to offer customers even more options. Flavor options include passionfruit, vanilla, lemon, strawberry, and elderflower, among others. 

All Abaca purées, sours, spritzes and syrups are made in Italy, highlighting Abaca’s commitment to quality. Free shipping is available on orders over £100 in the UK and recipes for many Abaca products are available online via the company’s website.
