AM Best to Host Webinar on Best’s Impairment Study 2018
OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AM Best analysts will review the results published in "Best’s Impairment Rate and Rating Transition Study—1977 to 2018," during a webinar on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 10 a.m. (EDT). Panelists will review the impairment rates and ratings transitions based on both the financial strength rating (FSR) and the long-term issuer credit rating (ICR) scales, which are most familiar to users of debt market ratings.
In addition, panelists will address issues related to comparing AM Best impairment studies to default/impairment studies of other National Recognized Statistical Ratings Organizations (NRSRO). They will explain how comparisons between AM Best’s impairment studies and the corporate default studies of other NRSROs should be based on AM Best’s holding company ICRs or their proxies, which are effectively equivalent to AM Best’s senior unsecured debt ratings.
