ABLE National Resource Center Launches 2026 #ABLEtoSave Campaign
Initiative encourages people with disabilities to start small and build toward greater financial independence
This year's campaign theme, "Start Small. Big Possibilities.", highlights how people with disabilities can take simple, manageable steps toward greater financial stability and independence over time. The campaign aims to increase awareness of the benefits of tax-advantaged ABLE savings and investment accounts and support improved financial well-being for people with disabilities. The ABLE National Resource Center is founded and managed by National Disability Institute.

What are ABLE Accounts?
ABLE accounts offer people with disabilities and their families a powerful tool for saving and managing funds specifically earmarked for qualified disability-related expenses including, but not limited to housing, food, transportation, employment and medical costs.
These accounts provide many benefits including:
- The first
$100,000 in an ABLE account is disregarded as a resource and does not impact eligibility for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) - Funds (up to plan limits) do not affect eligibility for other means-tested benefit programs such as Medicaid, HUD, SNAP and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
- Flexibility in funding sources, allowing contributions from the account owner, family members, friends, employers and other sources
- Tax-free investment growth
The campaign has widespread participation from ABLE programs including the ABLE Savings Plans Network, a network of the National Association of State Treasurers, major national disability groups, financial institutions, self-advocates, and other stakeholders. To follow and engage with the campaign, connect with @NationalDisability Institute on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
All interested partners are encouraged to participate and can access free resources in the #ABLEtoSave Social Media Toolkit.
The #ABLEtoSave campaign is made possible through the generous support of Prudential.
