“Risk modeling—whether we are talking about terrorism or cyber—is important and really essential to insurance companies,” said Matt Nielsen, senior director, global governmental and regulatory affairs, RMS. “It is important in terms of understanding how they can produce insurance products that can hit the right mark, hitting the target in the marketplace. Also, whether it is cyber or terrorism, the threats are so dynamic, it makes it even more important for risk modelers to make sophisticated models to get those threats right so that insurance companies can benefit from them,” added Nielsen.

Chris Folkman, director of product management, RMS, said he sees, “risk modeling trying to open up and take into account the network effect of interconnected supply chains, networks, cyber risks and marine port dependency—understanding network modeling in a much more detailed way.”
