In the cover story of the August issue of Best’s Review, it states that Jones’ aim to constrain insurers’ investments in coal carbon-based energy companies is being met by opposition from insurance groups and fellow U.S. state regulators.

“Jones holds the position on thermal coal that it is not a good investment, since governments at every level are seeking to curb the emissions of carbon dioxide,” said Vowinkel. “Additionally, policy changes may turn thermal coal into a stranded asset.”

Earlier this year, Jones highlighted that with the tremendous amount of movement here and overseas on the carbon economy, and with many nations limiting their reliance on carbon, he concluded that from a policy perspective, investments in thermal coal no longer make sense.
