A.M. BestTV: CPCU Gathering Highlights Cyber Risk, Sharing and Micro-insurance

At this year’s annual meeting, CPCU’s goal was to provide information and networking opportunities that would be valuable to the over 800 industry professionals that attended.
“This was a great opportunity to network with industry professionals, there also were a number of very good sessions involving a variety of topics,” said Christopher Hampshire, assistant vice president, carrier practice, Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. and president-elect, Philadelphia CPCU Society. “The annual meeting also provided a good opportunity for new designees to get exposure to different elements within the industry, as well as an opportunity to discover the benefits of being involved in the CPCU Society.”
The topics addressed at the annual meeting included: cyber risk, climate changed, the sharing economy and micro-insurance. A.M. Best Senior Managing Director – Industry Relations Andrea Keenan spoke on the issue of micro-insurance. “To the designees, A.M. Best and two others presented an information session as a course on the basics of micro-insurance, what it means to have a micro-policy, how it is going to grow, what the trends are and what does and does not work in micro-insurance,” said Keenan.
