A.M. Best Withdraws Ratings of Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- A.M. Best has affirmed the financial strength rating of A (Excellent) and the issuer credit rating of “a” of Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company (Mississippi Valley) (Madison, MS). The outlook for both ratings is stable. Concurrently, A.M. Best has withdrawn the ratings in response to the company’s request to no longer participate in A.M. Best’s interactive rating process.

Effective Oct. 1, 2015, Mississippi Valley ceased issuing title insurance policies, and its agent network began to issue policies exclusively through its parent, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company (ORNTIC), the lead title insurer within Old Republic International Corporation. Additionally, on that same effective date, Mississippi Valley entered into a reinsurance agreement whereby ORNTIC assumed the obligations created by or contained in every valid title insurance policy and each closing protection letter still in effect. Mississippi Valley remains a licensed title insurance underwriter, however it will be dormant.
