3D-Printing: New Possibilities for the Industry

The possibilities of additive-generative manufacturing are currently revolutionizing industrial production. 3D printing, based on three-dimensional digital models, uses layer-by-layer construction to create single-piece objects of complex geometries, and is a highly cost-and-time-effective process that also saves resources. As an industry location, Dresden is the European center for additive-generative manufacturing. The Dresden Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS leads the twenty20 project consortium, "Additive-Generative Manufacturing - The 3D revolution for product manufacturing in the digital age" - also known as AGENT-3D.
