170 WORKERS AT CERTAINTEED JOIN TEAMSTERS

Members Ready to Fight for a First Contract that Delivers Better Wages and Benefits

CHOWCHILLA, Calif., Oct. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- 170 workers at CertainTeed's fiberglass manufacturing facility in Chowchilla, California, have voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 431.

"We congratulate and welcome all 170 workers to Local 431," said Justin Scott, President of Teamsters Local 431. "This victory is the result of their hard work and determination to ensure their voices are heard and respected. Their unity will be instrumental as we fight for a strong first contract that delivers improved wages and benefits for everyone."

Teamsters at the plant are involved in every stage of manufacturing fiberglass building materials that are packaged, shipped, and distributed nationwide.

"The unity at this plant shined through when we heard the final vote count," said Victor Ruiz, a 23-year CertainTeed worker and new member of Local 431. "Every worker is excited to have the Teamsters on our side because we need change. For too long, management changed policies without transparency or notice and even slashed our seniority system. Now, as Teamsters, we can restore every worker's voice at the plant and get the respect we deserve."

For over 122 years, CertainTeed has produced and supplied building products such as shingles, siding, and fiberglass, growing into one of the largest building materials manufacturers in the world.

"This victory exemplifies the unity and strength of every worker here," said Jonathan Cobian, a Package Inspector at CertainTeed and new member of Local 431. "This organizing campaign really brought us together. I didn't really know some of my co-workers before this. Now, we have each other's back and are united to win our first Teamsters contract."

Teamsters Local 431 represents over 2,700 members across Madera and Fresno Counties. For more information, go to teamsterslocal431.org.
