Ali Jozani Is Building an AI-Native Path Into Alternative Business Funding

The alternative business funding industry helps entrepreneurs access capital outside traditional bank lending, yet much of the brokerage process still relies on manual underwriting, fragmented lender relationships, and inconsistent follow-up.

Ali Jozani, founder of The Funded Method, believes that gap represents both a problem and an opportunity.

The Funded Method is an AI-native training program designed for new and aspiring brokers entering the alternative business funding industry. Operated under JZNI Holdings LLC, the company combines traditional underwriting education with technology-driven systems for intake, lender matching, submissions, and follow-up.

Jozani’s path into the industry was not a conventional one.

Born in Iran and brought to the United States at ten years old, he grew up with a familiar immigrant expectation: pursue medicine or law. He initially followed that path and enrolled in pre-med studies. However, two early entrepreneurial experiences ultimately changed his direction.

Jozani first built an Amazon FBA business that he later lost. He then generated significant returns through digital assets before losing much of that position as well. The experiences reinforced an important distinction that would shape his future work: speculation may create temporary gains, but sustainable companies are built through disciplined operations.

He subsequently spent more than five years running operations at a seven-figure alternative business funding brokerage. In that role, Jozani personally managed approximately 95% of the firm’s deal flow, trained and onboarded more than 200 remote sales representatives, developed its underwriting process, and established direct relationships with more than 200 lenders.

His responsibilities gave him an inside view of multiple funding products, including merchant cash advances, business lines of credit, Small Business Administration loans, home equity lines of credit, and zero-percent credit card stacking.

More importantly, he learned that understanding a financing product is only part of a broker’s job. A broker must also understand which lenders are likely to approve a particular business, how each funder evaluates risk, and how to keep a file moving through the process.

“There are more than 200 lenders in this market,” Jozani said. “Most new brokers know ten of them, and they wonder why their approval rate is low.”

That operational experience became the foundation for The Funded Method.

According to Jozani, alternative business funding remains one of the few areas of modern finance where critical processes are still completed manually. Brokers often review bank statements by hand, submit applications to one lender at a time, and lose otherwise viable deals because a missing document was never collected.

“This industry is one of the last places in finance where a person still reads a bank statement by hand,” Jozani said. “That is not tradition, that is a gap.”

The Funded Method was created to close that gap without removing the broker’s judgment from the process.

The company’s flagship offering is a 12-week program that begins with underwriting fundamentals before introducing an AI-powered operational stack. Participants learn how to evaluate a business, understand lender requirements, organize client intake, manage submissions, build funder relationships, and automate follow-up.

The order of instruction is intentional. Jozani does not believe brokers should rely on artificial intelligence without first understanding the decisions the technology is helping them make.

“AI should do the underwriting math. The broker still has to understand the decision,” he said. “Skip that order and you have built a very fast way to be wrong.”

The broader objective is to help new brokers reach their first funded deal in approximately 90 days rather than spending months attempting to learn the industry through trial and error.

Jozani also emphasizes that success in funding brokerage depends less on aggressive sales tactics than on repeatable systems.

“Every broker fails the same way,” he said. “Not from a lack of hustle, from a lack of process. The deal dies in the follow-up, not the pitch.”

In addition to its cohort-based program, The Funded Method offers self-paced educational products and publishes free industry resources. Its materials include The 2026 Broker Stack, an annual briefing created to help new brokers understand the technology, products, lenders, and operating systems shaping the industry.

As AI continues to transform financial services, Jozani’s approach represents a practical model for adoption: automate repetitive work, preserve human judgment, and teach operators enough about the fundamentals to recognize when the technology may be wrong.

Through The Funded Method, he is working to create a more structured entry point into an industry that has traditionally been learned through informal relationships, expensive mistakes, and years of operational experience.
