VCT's Fuel-Saving Finlets Receives EASA Validation of Its FAA STC

737NG Operators in Europe Cleared to Implement Key Sustainable Technology

SEATTLE, Sept. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Vortex Control Technologies (VCT) today announced the receipt of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) validation for its FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of VCT Finlets on Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. This validation marks a major regulatory milestone and paves the way for Finlets to be installed on European-registered 737 fleets and fleets of other countries that recognize EASA certification. The EASA validation is applicable to the 737-700, 800 and 900ER.

VCT Finlets are a patented array of small aerodynamic fins placed on the aft fuselage of the aircraft.  These fins modify airflow, reduce drag, and improve fuel efficiency, while increasing range and climb performance.   With the receipt of this validation, European operators can now benefit from proven fuel and carbon savings demonstrated through years of testing and in-service evaluation from U.S. operators.
