Ubicquia Acquires Databuoy Expanding Its Security and Safety Platform and Services

Acquisition adds indoor, outdoor and vertical gunshot detection, drone detection, and mobile panic button services

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ubicquia Inc., which provides intelligent infrastructure platforms for utilities, municipalities and law enforcement agencies, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Databuoy Corporation, developer of the Shotpoint® multi-threat sensor and locator platform.

The acquisition expands Ubicquia's UbiShield™ public safety portfolio, which currently includes video analytics for public safety, license plate recognition, and traffic, curb and pedestrian monitoring. Databuoy adds gunfire detection and localization, drone detection, precision incident reporting, and mobile panic-button services.

Databuoy serves cities, utilities, retailers, airports, stadiums and school systems. Its technology also extends Ubicquia's platform indoors, including schools, government buildings and other institutional facilities.

The acquisition comes amid heightened national focus on protecting the U.S. electric grid. Executive Order 14421, issued in August 2026, declared a national emergency related to vulnerabilities in the bulk-power system and called for potentially affected equipment to be identified, monitored and secured. By combining Ubicquia's grid-monitoring capabilities with Databuoy's multi-threat detection platform, Ubicquia can now provide utilities with a comprehensive solution spanning grid visibility and physical grid security.

One Sensor Network Multiple Detection Services

Shotpoint® is designed to detect threats indoors, outdoors and across vertical environments. Its three-dimensional detection capabilities can identify elevated shooters and trace rifle fire originating beyond the immediate coverage area, including the approximate structure and floor level.

A single Shotpoint sensor network can support multiple detection services concurrently. The same infrastructure used to localize gunfire can also detect drones, while additional services can be added to installed sensors without deploying new hardware.

Alerts are delivered through Databuoy's Know When It Counts® (KWIC) application, which combines incident reports with maps, floor plans and video from integrated and third-party cameras. The KWIC application is designed to integrate with leading real-time crime centers and 911 platforms, helping deliver actionable information directly into existing public safety workflows. The Shotpoint indoor, outdoor and vertical sensors and software have received U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation.

Databuoy's Geofob® mobile panic button operates on the same sensor network and can locate users indoors or outdoors at the push of a button with centimeter accuracy.
