U.S. Anesthesia Partners Hosts Unique Future Leaders in Anesthesia Conference
Hundreds of anesthesiology medical students attend summit to prepare for success in a vitally important medical field

Topics for the physician resident attendees will include sessions on hemostatic resuscitation, the business of anesthesia, workplace culture and clinical quality. The CRNA student sessions also will cover the business of anesthesia, along with how to prepare for the national certification exam and navigate their critical first year in the workforce.

The number of medical facilities reporting an anesthesia staffing shortage more than doubled to 78 percent from 35 percent between 2020 and late 2022. By 2033, 22 percent of anesthesia providers are projected to leave the workforce, further straining health systems as demand for surgeries rises. The U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration projects a shortage of 8,450 anesthesiologists by 2037.
USAP has sought to address this critical need by identifying promising physician residents and CRNA students and arming them with information on topics not typically addressed in their clinical training but necessary for their success in a rapidly evolving health care environment.
