Three Visionary Leaders Appointed to the National Geographic Society Board of Trustees

Drawing from their expertise in business, economics, global affairs and hospitality, the
nonprofit's newest board members will help drive its mission forward

WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, three new board members were appointed to the National Geographic Society's board of trustees: Henry Ellenbogen, David S. Marriott and Baroness Dambisa Moyo. Their varied expertise and unique perspectives will contribute immense value to the board as it strengthens the Society's commitment to using the power of science, exploration, education and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world.

Ellenbogen is the founder, managing partner, and chief investment officer of Durable Capital Partners LP. Durable was founded in 2019 and invests in early-stage and durable growth companies across private and public markets. Before founding Durable, he spent 18 years at T. Rowe Price, where he was a portfolio manager and held several leadership roles, including chief investment officer for U.S. Equity Growth. Ellenbogen brings deep expertise in strategic investment and business growth to the board.

Marriott is chairman of the board of Marriott International, Inc., and only the third person to hold this position in the company's 97-year history. During his 25-year tenure with the company, he has served in a variety of operational, sales and leadership roles. Most recently, as president of the full-service managed by Marriott organization in the U.S., he oversaw more than 330 hotels operating under 14 brands. Marriott's extensive leadership in the hospitality industry will bring valuable global travel and company culture insights to the Society.

Moyo is a Zambian-born economist, author and member of the United Kingdom's House of Lords. Moyo is a principal of Versaca Investments, a family office focused on growth investing globally. She has previously worked at the World Bank and Goldman Sachs and serves on several global corporate boards, including Chevron and the Oxford University Endowment Investment Committee. A prolific author of five bestselling books on global economics and geopolitics, she will offer the board strategic guidance on global issues and sustainability.

Henry Ellenbogen is the founder, managing partner, and chief investment officer of Durable Capital Partners LP ("Durable"). Durable, which was founded in 2019, invests in early-stage and durable growth companies across private and public markets and manages $19B in assets as of November 2024.
