Most recently, Sturgeon Electric completed installation of new high efficiency variable frequency drive (VFD) motors in the historic Magma Mine 8 Shaft, a project critical for maintaining water levels in the historic underground workings. Sturgeon Electric also successfully replaced the load center for the No. 9 shaft breaker, ensuring safe and consistent power delivery to support hoisting operations that transport miners in and out of the shaft as well as a new transformer to power the modernized mine rescue center and replaced two additional load centers for efficient ventilation of the underground mine.
