Sphere Powers its AI Platform with Oracle Database 23ai

Oracle Autonomous Database on OCI enabled Sphere to build and deploy applications on its AI platform in just 45 days

MIAMI, May 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Oracle CloudWorld Tour -- Sphere, a deep tech company empowering governments, NGOs, and businesses, is leveraging Oracle Database 23ai on Oracle Autonomous Database to support its secure AI platform, OrgBrain. By taking advantage of Oracle Database's converged architecture and integrated development services, Sphere was able to build and deploy custom-built applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in 45 days—much faster than using multiple isolated, single-purpose databases and ETL pipelines.

By leveraging proprietary models and advanced automation, Sphere states that it helps enable organizations to take complex, multi-stakeholder workflows that typically require weeks and complete them in just 5–10 minutes. Oracle AI Vector Search in Oracle Database 23ai enables customers to simultaneously analyze and query structured and unstructured internal business data. It can also be used as part of a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solution to help generative AI deliver more relevant responses. A critical component for building knowledge-intensive applications, RAG paired with Sphere's proprietary data models can help improve accuracy and reduce hallucinations of large language models.

Customers are using Sphere OrgBrain to help deliver higher-quality insights with increased efficiency and speed. For example, a U.S. healthcare organization reports that it uses OrgBrain to streamline back-office operations, including member management and claims, improving efficiency across critical cost centers. At the same time, legal teams note that they use Sphere's explainable AI to surface insights from precedents, with full source traceability to address compliance and audibility. In addition, an international NGO states that it uses Sphere to help draft complex proposals faster to reclaim time and budget across teams.

Sphere's developers state that they saved months of back-end development time by quickly mapping their data models to objects in Oracle Autonomous Database using Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS). This enabled Sphere's developers to interact with the data and stored procedures from the database via a REST API as they built their web applications in React. Security permissions configured in the database are delivered out-of-the-box through the REST API, meaning AI chatbots are less likely to access or leak sensitive data.
