Spectrohm Acquires High-Speed Bag Screening Technology from Iconal Technology LTD

Innovations in radio wave screening technology can inspect bags at venues and events quickly, accurately and cost effectively

McLean, Va., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrohm today announced the acquisition of high-speed bag screening technology from Iconal Technology Ltd. Iconal's system, to be marketed by Spectrohm as the CheckStream product, detects explosives, firearms, and other mass-casualty threats concealed within bags entering soft target venues like music events and sporting facilities.

CheckStream delivers security with high speed, light weight, and low cost. Venue operators need high-throughput, low-friction systems to detect threats while keeping time-to-entry low and preventing entry queues. CheckStream achieves this through a novel suite of radio frequency and electromagnetic sensors in a familiar search table format, allowing a single operator to search twice as many bags as a pair of manual searchers. This reduces labor costs and avoids the hassles and regulatory overhead of X-ray based systems.
