Poppy MacDonald Joins NationSwell as President

Growing social impact community taps former USAFacts President and membership leader to help lead its next phase of scale and impact 

NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NationSwell, a leading social impact community designed to support purpose-driven leaders across business, philanthropy, and nonprofit organizations, announced that Poppy MacDonald has joined the organization as President.

As President, MacDonald will lead NationSwell's next chapter of growth and impact, working across the organization to deepen its membership community, expand its award-winning Studio, and build the partnerships and capabilities needed to serve an evolving ecosystem of leaders.

MacDonald brings more than 20 years of experience building and scaling mission-driven membership, information, and data organizations. Most recently, she served as President of USAFacts, the nonpartisan civic initiative founded by Steve Ballmer to make government data more accessible and understandable. During her tenure, MacDonald helped grow USAFacts from an early-stage startup into a leading public data platform reaching more than one million monthly users, while overseeing product, engineering, marketing, research and operations.

Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at Gallup and began her work in membership at The Advisory Board Company, where bringing executives together around shared challenges helped shape her approach to building high-value member communities.

Throughout her career, MacDonald has focused on expanding the reach of mission-driven organizations, strengthening the value they deliver to members and customers, and building sustainable growth and impact. Her experience spans membership, media, data, research and civic information, with a focus on helping leaders and organizations navigate complex challenges and turn ideas into action.

MacDonald also serves on the Board of Public Media Company and advises mission-driven and technology companies on strategy, positioning, partnerships and growth.
