PlantWave Makes Every Soundset Free for Every Owner
The device that turns a plant's electrical signals into music now includes every soundset in its app free for owners. Pro becomes Designer, the one paid tier, for people who design their own.
One optional paid tier remains. PlantWave Designer, formerly PlantWave Pro, is for people who want to build their own soundsets. Current Plus and Pro subscribers get Designer at no extra charge once they update the app. Their billing continues as before.
"When we first released PlantWave, the app had four soundsets, which was a real innovation. At the time, we added a subscription to fund the development of additional features. We've made so many soundsets now, we want everyone who owns a PlantWave to hear them with their own plants," said
Free for every owner:

- Audio and MIDI recording
- Background play

About PlantWave
Data Garden, Inc. makes PlantWave. The device reads the tiny electrical changes in a living plant. The PlantWave app turns them into music in real time, a practice called biosonification. Data Garden began making plant music in 2012. It commissioned the original open-sourced plant impedance biosonification algorithm that opened new music tools to a DIY audience. It then produced and released MIDI Sprout, a device that helped start a global plant music movement.
PlantWave is sold in more than ninety countries. PlantWave donates 1% of its global revenues to nature protection and restoration projects via EarthPercent, the music industry's nature and climate foundation, co-founded by Brian Eno. PlantWave is part of Growing Tomorrow, an exhibition at Smithsonian Gardens in Washington, D.C., where visitors hear pre-recorded plant music made with PlantWave. Learn more at plantwave.com.
