Moments Lab Launches AI Agent for Video Search and Discovery
Using natural language prompts, new Discovery Agent enables video teams to more deeply search their media libraries and uncover hidden stories
The Discovery Agent addresses two common pain points in video content production. First, the time and effort required to find relevant footage from large media libraries. Second, the pressing need to repurpose existing footage and content across multiple platforms and use-cases.
The Discovery Agent is designed for creative entertainment, digital content and media teams that need to move quickly to keep pace with audience demand for compelling video content. Powered by Moments Lab's patented multimodal AI indexing engine, MXT, the agent performs more like a personal research assistant than a search tool; freeing the users to focus more on editing and narrative decisions while offering content options the team might not even realize they have available.
"Most video teams are sitting on thousands of hours of content they can't easily access, or don't even know they have," said Philippe Petitpont, CEO and co-founder of Moments Lab. "We wanted to tear down those barriers. The Discovery Agent gives users a fast, intuitive way to find what they need - even if they're new or non-technical. You can ask for recommendations just like you'd ask a colleague, and it will come back with perfect clips from your media library for any piece you're editing."
Designed to support massive scale video search and fast-turnarounds, the Discovery Agent can be used to source footage for news pieces, trailers, social posts, recaps, documentaries, brand activations, or archival projects. Features include:
- Conversational, semantic search with follow-up prompts and refinements
- Ability to reason and deep understanding of user intent, including concepts and phrasing
- Remembers previous conversations and provides coherent, connected responses - no need for users to repeat themselves
- Returns moment-level results, not just full video files
- A powerful recommendation engine that suggests clips and concepts, fueling the creative process
- Ability to crawl the web, as well as custom data sources to provide additional context and insights for video stories.
The Discovery Agent is available now in beta for Moments Lab users, and will be showcased at IBC2025 in
Moments Lab is a participant in the 2025 IBC Accelerator Project, AI Agent Assistants for Live Production championed by ITN, BBC, and Channel 4. The project presentation will be held on
