The analysts at Mobile Experts have been working with multiple mobile operators to understand the cost of mobile networks, including up-front capital costs as well as several years of operational costs. For thirty years, the cost per GB of mobile data has dropped steadily due to improvements in technology and wider bandwidths. However, technology has reached its natural limit (Shannon's limit) and new spectrum allocations appear to be weak for new mobile services.
As a result, the cost per GB in 6G will be higher than the cost per GB for 5G in some countries, and not in other countries. Spectrum policy will play a major role in determining the value of a 6G network.
