Leica Gallery New York Presents Steve McCurry: Adagio

A new exhibition and Leica Libretto publication unite career-spanning and never-before-seen photographs from one of the most celebrated image-makers of our time.

NEW YORK, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Leica Gallery New York is pleased to announce Steve McCurry: Adagio, opening September 10th and on view through October 18th, 2026.

The exhibition draws from McCurry's new book, Adagio, published as part of the Leica Libretto series. For the book, McCurry has brought together a collection of his most celebrated photographs, many previously unpublished, alongside a body of new work specially commissioned by Leica Camera USA, resulting in a career-spanning portrait of a photographer whose singular eye for human connection has shaped the medium for more than five decades.

The release of Adagio is the second edition in the Leica Libretto series. These beautifully crafted, collectible books are designed to spotlight a single photographic project—making iconic work accessible to both longtime collectors and new audiences. McCurry's deep, decades-long relationship with Leica aligns with the brand's core values of precision, artistry, and storytelling rooted in real life.

The exhibition's title, drawn from the musical term for a slow, expressive tempo, speaks to what McCurry describes as the contemplative core of his practice:

Throughout his career, McCurry's relationship with Leica cameras has been central to his process.
